Skateboard trucks

Skateboard trucks are an essential part of every skateboard. They not only act as the axle to which the wheels are attached, but they are also the primary steering mechanism as well. And while there are many different manufacturers out there, most trucks are made in the same basic fashion.

Skateboard trucks have two primary components, the axle and the pivot mechanism. The axle is usually a solid steel rod that stretches through the housing and to which the wheels and bearings are attached. The pivot mechanism is what allows the rider to steer by leaning to one side or the other.

Skateboard trucks are available in different sizes. For most standard skateboards, trucks are usually either 129mm or 139mm in size. Longboards, however, often use much wider trucks for additional stability.
