Longboard skateboard

A longboard skateboard is, as the name implies, longer (and usually wider) than a typical skateboard. Skateboarding started out as a substitute for surfers when the waves were low, but has evolved into a much more intense activity. Longboarding has brought the idea of “surfing” back into the skateboarding world.

A longboard skateboard is not really designed for performing tricks; at least not the tricks people typically associate with skateboarding. Instead, they are designed for a more relaxed, surf-style of riding. However, there are boards designed for a more aggressive downhill style as well.

The longboard skateboard is actually available in a wide variety of sizes. Boards can range from as small as 35 inches in length all the way up to 65 inches, and in some cases even longer. Shorter boards are most often used for aggressive carving, while longer boards are better suited to “cruising”.
